35.11 DLI MEMORIAL – DARLINGTON BUILDING SOCIETY
A special “Affinity” Mortgage has been introduced by the Darlington Building Society and for each completed Mortgage the Society will donate £250.00 to the DLI Memorial Fund. Enclosed with this Bulletin is a leaflet giving full details. Branches are asked to bring it to the attention of all members with a request that they give publicity to this generous initiative.
36.11 MUSEUM TALKS – JUNE PROGRAMME
On Saturday 25 June 2011 at 2 pm Dr. Jim Beach, Lecturer in Military History at the University of Salford will give a talk on Sir Cuthbert Headlam & the First World War. Cuthbert Headlam was a yeomanry subaltern in July 1914; by November 1918 he was a Lieutenant-Colonel at GHQ and after the war became Conservative MP for Barnard Castle. Drawing upon a recently published volume of his military papers, this talk explores Headlam’s unusual experiences during the First World War. Adults £4.50, Concessions £3.50.
37.11 HELP FOR HEROES – CHARITY CONCERT
A Concert by the Heavy Cavalry & Cambrai Band from Catterick Garrison will take place in the Bishops Suite at the Ramside Hall Hotel on Saturday 7 August 2011. 7.00 pm for 7.30 pm. All proceeds will go to the Charity “Help the Heroes”. Tickets priced at £20.00 can be obtained by telephoning 0191 512 1170 or by sending a cheque to “D. Braithwaite” Ladies’ Captain, Ramside Hall Golf Club, Carrville. Durham DH1 1TD. Applicants by post are asked to enclose a stamped addressed envelope for tickets return.
38,11 EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING
The next meeting of the DLI Association Executive Committee will take place on Wednesday 15 June 2011 in the Rifles Durham Office, commencing at 1400 hrs. The Agenda is enclosed with this Bulletin and branches are requested to ensure that they are represented.
39.11 ANNUAL REUNION – PARADE FORMAT
It was agreed at the Executive Committee 2011 AGM that the format of the parade at the Annual Reunion should be changed. The Chairman was asked to produce the new format in writing for inclusion in the Reunion Warning Order. Enclosed with this Bulletin you will find an advanced copy for your information and perusal. It will be presented for ratification at the Meeting of the Executive Committee on 15 June 2011.
40.11 ASSOCIATION SWEEPSTAKE
The proceeds of this years’ DLI Sweepstake after prize money and expenses have been deducted, will be donated to the DLI Memorial Appeal. Please ensure that all tickets are made available to branch members. Branches that have not yet collected their allocation should do so as soon as possible.
41.11 CALENDAR PHOTOGRAPHS
Named photographs are still required for the 2012 DLI Calendar. Please encourage members to search their archives for good coloured or black & white images – singles, groups, squads, platoons, and company. Photos loaned will be returned.
