7.13 ANNUAL DINNER – 7 LI

The 2013 Annual Dinner of 7LI will be held on Saturday 5 October in the TA Centre Bishop Auckland. Please make a note of this in your diaries.

9.13 BATTLEFIELD TOUR – NORMANDY 2014

The DLI Association will be joining in the 70th Anniversary Celebrations of the D Day Landings in 2014. It is in the process of arranging a 6 day 5 night tour through Galina International Travel from Tuesday 3 June 2014 to Sunday 8 June 2014. During this tour it would be our intention to erect a Plaque in memory of the two DLI soldiers who were murdered together with a Canadian unit by the Waffen SS.

A  single Application Form is enclosed with this Bulletin and it would be appreciated if these could be given maximum publicity. Only 45 places have been reserved and early applications are advised.  APPLICATION FORM DOWNLOAD

10.13 MEETING VENUE- CHANGE OF

The Gateshead & Newcastle Branch will now meet at 1200 hrs on the 1st Sunday of each month in Nursery House Working Men’s Club. Claremont Road, Bensham NE8 1SU

14.13 CHARITY CONCERT – GALA THEATRE DURHAM

SATURDAY 8TH JUNE 2013 at 7.30pm

To celebrate 70 years of Finchale Training College the College and the ABF Soldiers Charity are hosting a Concert at the Gala Theatre in Durham on Saturday the 8th of June commencing at 7.30pm. 15.13 ANNUAL ACCOUNTS & STRENGTH RETURN

Those branches who have not yet submitted their annual Statement of Accounts and Branch Strength return as at 31 December 2012 should do so as soon as possible and by the 28 February at the latest.

16.13 INDOOR GAMES

Those branches who have not yet submitted their application to participate in this year’s Indoor Games should do so as soon as possible.

17.13 DURHAM ARMED FORCES DAY 2013

Durham Armed Forces Day (AFD) will be held in the grounds of County Hall, Aykley Heads, Durham on Sunday 30 June 2013, Branches who are not involved in their own local celebrations on that day are invited to display their Standards. Please advise The Rifles Durham Office if you intend to do so.

William David Davies of St. George, Abergele, Colwyn LL22 9BN is searching for Trebor Edwards, who served with him in Berlin 1951, Korea 1952/3. Egypt 53/55 and worked in the Officer’s Mess in Fayed. Any information should be telephoned to William on 01745 824554

Half-Term at the DLI Museum and Durham Art Gallery

Feeling creative? Come and join us for some fun, hands-on activities throughout the Half-Term break.Saturday 16 - Sunday 24th February 10.00am-4.00pm.

Every day during half-term we will be putting on art and craft activities. All our workshops are free, suitable for all ages and you can just drop-in for as long as you like. Plus there will still be time to see Durham Art Gallery's current exhibition An Experiment inTotal Environment by Toby Paterson, inspired by Victor Pasmore's Apollo Pavilion in Peterlee.
