26.11 HORDEN & PETERLEE - CHANGE OF MEETING PLACE

The Horden & Peterlee branch have advised that they will now meet in Peterlee Catholic Club, Grampian Drive. The day of the meeting remains the 2nd Wednesday of each month.

27.11 SOCIAL EVENIUNG - HORDEN & PETERLEE

The above branch has also arranged to hold a Social Evening on Saturday 14 May 2011. All branches are invited and quite refreshingly there will be no charge.

28.11 CAP BADGES - DLI

The Rifles Durham Office has secured a small supply of large DLI cap badges with the King’s Crown. They are £5.00 each and can be ordered or reserved in the usual manner.

29.11 MINUTES OF EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE AGM

The minutes of the Executive Committee AGM are enclosed with this Bulletin. Branches should ensure that their members are made aware of the contents at the earliest opportunity.

30.11 DLI CLOTHING

The Rifles Durham Office has recently received a small supply of fleece jackets in sizes M/L/ XL. These can be ordered through Shirley on 0191 386 5496 - price £18.00.

31.11 DURHAM BUGLE - SPRING EDITION

The Spring Edition of the Durham Bugle will be available for collection from Thursday 28 April. It would be appreciated if branches could collect their quota in time for sale at the May branch meetings.

32.11 BUGLERS SWORDS

As previously reported the Association sponsored a number of engravings on the new Buglers Swords issued to The Rifles Bugle Sections. We sponsored our 11 VCs plus Sir Henry de Beauvoir de Lisle (sword no 106). The Gateshead & Newcastle Branch, OCA 8/11 Bns and Sir Peter de la Billiere made individual sponsorships. A list of these, showing the distribution of the swords, is enclosed with this Bulletin.

33.11 DLI MEMORIAL - SITREP

At the Executive Committee AGM on 20 April a number of members suggested that there was a lack of general information surrounding the proposed DLI Memorial to be erected at Alrewas sometime in 2012. Brigadier Bob McGregor-Oakford dispatched a SITREP on March 26th which I think answers most questions and I enclose an abridged version of it with this Bulletin.

34.11 DEATHS

The following deaths have been reported to the Rifles Durham Office since the last Bulletin.

SGT JOHN ALLAN – DLI – Aged 88

HARRY FLINT – 1 DLI KOREA – Bishop Auckland Branch

JOHN WILSON - South Shields Branch
