The Guyzance Commemoration

The Guyzance Tragedy took place on 17 January 1945 when 8 trainees of the DLI and 2 trainees of Duke of Wellington’s Regt were swept over the Weir and drowned in the River Coquet in Guyzance.  They had been based at the nearby Felton Camp and were training for river crossings associated with the Allied advance across Europe.

The Commemoration will take place as follows

Dress:              Officer Dress or Regimental Blazer, beret, tie, medals, etc.
Standards:        Branch Standards are invited.

Note:                There is only limited parking at the memorial.  It may be necessary to park further along the road towards the village of Guyzance.

Afterwards:     There is the opportunity for a smack meal at the Northumberland Arms, The Peth, Felton, Morpeth, Northumberland NE65 9EE.
