The Guyzance Tragedy took place on 17 January 1945 when 8
trainees of the DLI and 2 trainees of Duke of Wellington’s Regt were swept
over the Weir and drowned in the River Coquet in Guyzance. They had been based
at the nearby Felton Camp and were training for river crossings associated with
the Allied advance across Europe.
