Hundreds of people gathered to see the dedication of the new war memorial in Chester-le-Street market place,which was was unveiled last year
The red granite memorial carries the names of more than 400 dead from WW1,WW2 and other conflicts
The Reverend David Tully led the ceremony in which, readings and prayers were said and a silence was observed before Sue Snowdon, the Lord Lieutenant of County Durham, laid a wreath. The event concluded with a march past by veterans, armed services, cadets, Scouts, Guides, Boys Brigade and others.
