Peter Hart – The First Battle of Ypres, 1914
In the final British battle of 1914 the men of the 'Old Contemptibles' fought to the death against German forces intent in smashing their way through to capture the vital Channel ports. Aided by the French and the Belgian Armies, the BEF held. Together the Allies stopped the German Army in its tracks.
