01/11 LIGHT INFANTRY MEMORIAL ALREWAS
Branches members attending the Light Infantry Reunion have been asked to divert the return journey home to take part in the unveiling ceremony of the Light Infantry Memorial at Alrewas, details of which will be given when the programme is finalized. Would branches please advise the The Rifles Durham Office of numbers attending as soon as they are able to do so. Numbers are required for seating and catering arrangements to be made.
02/11 ALREWAS EXCURSION - SUNDERLAND BRANCH
For those who are not attending the LI Reunion may wish to note that the City of Sunderland Branch is organizing an excursion to Alreaws via Classic Coaches leaving Saturday 11 June. There will be transport to the Arboretum on Sunday 12 June and returning to County Durham after the ceremony has been concluded. Interested branches/members should contact the Sunderland Branch for further details on 0191 5483356.
03/11 DONATIONS – DLI ARBORETUM MEMORIAL
Recent publicity regarding the DLI Memorial Arboretum Project has resulted in a substantial number of personal donations from the general public. Would branches and individual members who wish to donate to the fund please make their cheques payable to “Regimental & Chattels Charity of the former DLI” and send to DLI Memorial Appeal, The Rifles Durham Office , Elvet Waterside, Durham DH1 3BW. If you do not include a covering letter please write your name and address on the reverse of the cheque.
04.11 INSUFFICIENT POSTAGE
Would branches and their members please note that the amount of postage required to post a letter is based on weight and size. A number of letters are posted to the Rifles Durham Office which have insufficient postage on them, and this requires a member of staff to drive to the PO Sorting Office to pay the postage deficiency plus a £1.00 surcharge. In future this additional payment will be recovered from the sender when they can be identified..
05/11 FREE NIGHT OUT – SUNDERLAND DOGS
The Sunderland Greyhound Stadium have again invited members to a Free Night Out on Wednesday 9 February 2011. The Rifles Durham Office is holding a number of tickets which will allow free admission, 1 free drink plus a free Pie & Pea Supper. Race cards can be purchased for £2.00 on the evening. Extra tickets can be ordered on 0191 568 6 200.

Branches are reminded that applications to attend or participate in the Indoor Games being held on Sunday 6 March 2011 in the RBL Dubmire Club, Fencehouses must reach the Rifles Durham Office no later than Friday 18 February. .
07.11 LAPEL BADGES – 1 DLI COLCHESTER
John Taylor (Totty) has produced a 1 DLI Lapel Badge which is one inch in diameter with an outer circle in gold, an inner circle in red with a green centre in which there is an image of a DLI Cap Badge. Within the red circle are the words “The Durham Light Infantry Colchester 1966/68. They are available from John Taylor 1 Wick Cottage, Wick Lane, Ardleigh, Colchester, CO7 7RF. They are priced at £7.00 each plus postage & packing.
